Abstract
Upon treatment with nitroketene dithioacetal (2) in refluxing acetonit rile, enaminonitriles (1) afforded nitrodienamines (3). Polysubstitute d nitropyridines (4 and 5) were obtained by cyclization of intermediat es (3) with orthoformate and acetic anhydride respectively.
