The possibility of selective, sorptive leaching of zinc from a mixture
of zinc, iron(III), cobalt(II, III), and nickel(II) oxides by applyin
g the cation-exchanger KU-2-8 in the H-form is investigated. It is det
ermined that cobalt(II, III) does not go into the solution during sorp
tive leaching, whereas iron(III) is almost not leached when the pH of
the solution is high (4-6). The selectivity coefficient of zinc compar
ed to iron(III) reaches a value of 5000 during the course of the proce
ss.
