LOCATION OF THE PHENOMENA OF PREMATURE CAPACITY LOSS DURING CYCLING OF LEAD-ACID-BATTERIES WITH LEAD GRIDS

Investigations of lead/acid cells with specially designed positive pla tes containing pure-lead and lead-antimony subgrids under various cycl ing modes have been performed. It has been established that the phenom ena causing premature capacity loss proceed both in the corrosion laye r and at its interfaces with the grid metal and the active material. A dditions of antimony to the positive active mass do not improve substa ntially the life of cells prepared with positive plates based on pure- lead grids.
