Abstract
Pneumothorax, pleural effusion, and diaphragmatic hernia are condition s that may result in collapse of lungs in small animals. The rapidity with which collapsed lungs are reinflated contributes more to the pote ntial for development of pulmonary edema than does the duration of the collapse.
