Abstract
Magnetization measurements of YFe3Hx hydrides with x = 0, 1.8, 3.7 hav e been made on single crystal specimens as well as Mossbauer spectra o n powder samples. The absorption of hydrogen produces complicated chan ges in the average Fe moment (mu(Fe)) and the Curie temperature (T(c)) : at first mu(Fe) and T(c) increase and then decrease. The basal plane magnetocrystalline anisotropy of Fe and the Fe - Fe exchange signific antly decrease with increasing hydrogen content.
