Abstract
Pulsed laser desorption sources are well suited to the production of i ons to be stored in Paul radio-frequency quadrupole traps. With extern al injection, ions of different masses may be cleanly separated by tim e-of-flight and efficiently captured. Resonant ionization techniques m ay be used at the source for element selection.
