Abstract
Experimental results of strain gauge measurements on a large opening i n a fun-scale vessel are analysed in this paper. In particular, the re liability analyses of using the area reinforcement method for reinforc ing a large opening are presented. The fatigue life of the pressure ve ssel at the working temperature is evaluated by means of the local str ain approach. The results provide a mechanical basis for designs and o perations of pressure vessels with large openings.
