Abstract
Genetic variants of kappa-casein were studied using PCR/RFLP methods i n Czech Pied and Black Pied cattle. In Czech Pied cattle, there was a frequency of allele A of 0.514, allele B 0.414, allele E 0.071, in Bla ck Pied cattle 0.756, 0.220 and 0.024. The frequencies of genotypes in Czech Pied cattle were for AA 0.257, BE 0.171, EE 0, AB 0.429, AE 0.0 86, BE 0.057, in Black Pied cattle 0.561, 0.024, 0, 0.366, 0.024, 0.02 4. The genotype frequencies found and theoretically expected did not d iffer significantly in both breeds. The Czech Pied breed significantly exceeded the Black Pied breed with regard to the rate of genotype BB.
