Abstract
The genetic polymorphism of two salivary enzymes (esterase and a-amyla se) was studied in individuals from eight districts of Greece. The poo led gene frequencies were: Set(s) = 0.63, Set(F) = 0.37, AMY(1) = 0.87 , AMY(2) = 0.10, AMY(3) = 0.02, and AMY(4) = 0.01. There was no intrap opulation heterogeneity, while there was a significant difference betw een the Greeks and the few other European populations studied.
