S. Kremeyer et al., QUANTUM BEAT MEASUREMENTS ON SPIN-POLARIZED ELECTRONS IN OXYGEN IONS EMERGING FROM MAGNETIZED NI-LAYERS AND GD-LAYERS, Hyperfine interactions, 78(1-4), 1993, pp. 235-240
Employing the time-differential perturbed gamma-angular correlation te
chnique it is shown that 1s- and 2s-electrons of highly stripped O-16(
3-)-ions have their spin polarized on emergence from magnetized thin N
i- and Gd-layers into vacuum. The mean degree of polarization of 2s-el
ectrons is found to be twice as large as for 1s-electrons.
