Abstract
The tin(IV) chloride-promoted allylic rearrangement of 3,4-di-O-acetyl -L-rhamnal in the presence of the trimethylsilsyl derivative of uracil or thymine led to the corresponding -trideoxy-L-erithro-hex-2'-enopyr anosyl)pyrimidine derivative as a mixture of and beta anomers, with go od yield. The mixture was readily separated by flash chromatography.
