Cp. Reip et G. Sauthoff, DEFORMATION-BEHAVIOR OF THE INTERMETALLIC PHASE AL3NB WITH DO22 STRUCTURE AND OF AL3NB-BASE ALLOYS .1. PHYSICAL-PROPERTIES AND SHORT-TERM BEHAVIOR, Intermetallics, 1(3), 1993, pp. 159-169
In view of efforts to develop new intermetallic high-temperature mater
ials, various Al3Nb alloys-i.e. single-phase Al3Nb and Al3(Nb,Ti) with
tetragonal DO22 structure as well as Al3Nb-based three-phase alloys w
hich contain NiAl with cubic B2 structure and the Laves phase NbNiAl w
ith hexagonal C14 structure-have been studied in detail. The work has
been centred on the deformation behaviour, which has been studied in c
ompression and in bending between room temperature and 1400-degrees-C
to determine yield strength, ductility and toughness. Furthermore, the
constitution has been analysed and lattice constants, thermal expansi
on and elastic moduli have been measured.
