Anticholinesterase activity of carboranyl containing thio- and selenoe
sters of pentavalent phosphorus acids has been studied. Insertion of t
he carboranyl substituents in the thioester group of phosphororganic c
ompounds was found to increase the anticholinesterase activity as comp
ared with the thioalkyl analogues. The compounds with B-carboranyl gro
up are less active inhibitors of cholinesterase than their isomers wit
h C-carboranyl group.
