INHERITANCE OF BROWN PLANTHOPPER NILAPARVATA-LUGENS (STAL) RESISTANCEIN 4 RICE VARIETIES IN BANGLADESH

Inheritance of resistance to brown planthopper (BPH) in four rice vari eties was studied at the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute. Rice seed lings at one leaf stage were screened by artificial Infestation with s econd and third instar nymphs. Reactions of the seedlings were recorde d when the plants of the susceptible check died. Results indicated tha t a single recessive gene in ARC10550, two complementary dominant gene s In ARC6650 and a single dominant gene in both Swarnalata and T27A co ntrol the resistance to brown planthopper in Bangladesh.
