Yd. Kotov et al., SCINTILLATOR ANTICOINCIDENCE DETECTOR USING WAVELENGTH-SHIFTING LIGHTGUIDES, Instruments and experimental techniques, 36(4), 1993, pp. 537-540
The paper describes how wavelength-shifting lightguides made from PMMA
can be employed in a scintillator anti-coincidence detector to be use
d in the protection system of a coding collimator of a gamma-radiation
telescope designed to operate under heavy thermal and mechanical load
s, in particular, on board a spacecraft. Wavelength-shifting lightguid
es can limit the dimensions-of a structure with 4 pi-geometry. The det
ector efficiency is better than 0.99.
