Abstract
A mean field type theory is developed for the insulating RVB state and high temperature superconductivity in doped La2CuO4 and other high-T( c) oxides. The T(c) as a function of the doping parameter delta drops sharply around t/U is similar to delta. The zero temperature gap versu s T(c) relation depends sensitively on the choice of the parameters. G utzwiller projection, suppression of T(c) by phase fluctuations for sm all delta and screening effects are briefly discussed.
