Y. Huang et Kx. Hu, ELASTIC-MODULI OF A MICROCRACKED COMPOSITE WITH SPHERICAL INCLUSIONS OF CUBIC ANISOTROPY, Composites science and technology, 50(2), 1994, pp. 149-156
The self-consistent mechanics method has been widely used to estimate
the elastic moduli of solids containing microvoids and inclusions. In
the present paper, the elastic moduli of a microcracked composite mate
rial-a matrix containing inclusions and microcracks-are studied. The s
tudy focuses on the effect of inclusion anisotropy and the interaction
between microcracks and inclusions. It is established that the effect
of inclusions and microcracks on overall moduli is approximately deco
upled. This method is also used to estimate the elastic moduli of a mi
crocracked polycrystal.
