Abstract
The condensation of methyl acrylate with the title beta-ketosulfide an d beta-ketosulfone was studied. The primary adduct of beta-ketosulfone with acrolein readily undergoes intramolecular aldolization to give b icyclo[3.2.1]octane derivatives. The molecular structure of one of the m was elucidated by X-ray analysis.
