Optical attenuators designed to introduce a specific, controllable att
enuation into an optical line channel are widely used in optical-fiber
transmission systems [1, 2]. However, existing attenuators are not su
itable from the viewpoint of reproducing the attenuation introduced in
to the channel. In this paper we consider new types of optical fiber a
perture attenuators that have been developed and analyzed. Unlike prev
ious devices, these attenuators are manufactured as elements without p
ackages and are delivered in an AK-1 set. These attenuators are employ
ed in ''List'' optical connectors and provide attenuation ranging from
2 to 16 dB in steps of 2 dB with an error of +/-10%.
