In recent years the interactive aspect of analytical dialogue has rece
ived increasing attention. The present paper tries to analyse more clo
sely the dialectics of this exchange. With the help of Gadamer's analy
sis of understanding the analytical dialogue is defined as interactive
integration. Wurmser's analysis of theatophilia and delophilia shows
that in addition to material openly dealt with affects and conflicts,
which are the basis for the formation of personality structure and the
feeling of identity, are inseparably linked to this interactive integ
ration. Dialogue is therefore not only a means of talking ''about'', b
ut has already got in itself, because of its success or failure, an ac
tive therapeutic effect. Successful dialogue cures because it solves c
onflicts and forms structures; they mean a step in the direction of a
common yet differentiated humaneness.
