Abstract
The historical development of the application of ozone to potable wate r treatment within the United Kingdom is reviewed up to 1990. The impa ct of privatization of the water utilities on the use of ozone is disc ussed and the process applications currently being considered are desc ribed. The paper concludes with a survey of wafer treatment plants whi ch are using ozone in 1993, and those planned for completion by the ye ar 2000.
