GROWTH AND 1ST MATURATION SIZE IN CALLINE CTES-ORNATUS ORDWAY, 1863 (DECAPODA, PORTUNIDAE) FROM THE MATINHOS REGION, PARANA STATE, BRAZIL

Males and females of C. ornatus Ordway, 1863, were collected in Matinh os and Caioba region, on the coast of Parana State, from September 199 1 to September 1992. The curves of carapace width growth were establis hed by the frequency distribution method, and the growth curve in weig th was established by deductive method, estimating size and age of fir st maturation. The species growth is fast and weigth gain is isometric in type, reaching first maturation size at the age of 1.6 years.
