The double perovskite structure Sr2YRuO6 is an antiferromagnetic insul
ator with T-N similar to 26 K. Partially substituted the Ru ion by Cu
the compounds increase their conductivity drastically and eventually b
ecome superconducting. More intriguingly is the observation of the coe
xistence of superconductivity and magnetic order. Results of the obser
ved superconducting and magnetic properties can be qualitatively under
stood in terms of a plausible model based on the double exchange idea.
