Abstract
As a consequence of the merging of the Krupp and Hoesch corporations t he information processing function is being redesigned. Among the goal s are the advancement of customer orientation, product orientation, fl exibility, and efficiency. Synergy will be put in effect by centralize d provision of computer center services, application development, help and general services. Other means of cost reduction are standardizati on (combined with the use of standard products) and concentration of p urchase. The path to client-server solutions, together with downsizing -concepts, will be followed wherever this is economical. The path that has been developed with the help of a consultant will have to be foll owed and realized quickly. A major critical success factor is the unco nditionel involvement of the employees, which will be done in the sens e of an organization development process. The ambitious goal of the bi g task will be achievable only with widely accepted and trusted cooper ation on all levels.
