The minimum inhibitory concentrations of ten fatty acids and their met
hyl esters on Staphylococcus aureus and MRSA #10 were investigated. Th
e highest antibiotic activity was observed for 7-linolenic acid (C-18:
3), and when the concentration was 500 mug/ml in the medium, the MRSA
cells were all killed.
