Abstract
A new assay method for protoporphyrinogen oxidase inhibitors, using st romal extracts of chloroplasts and a fluorescence micro-plate reader, was developed. The I50 value of S-23142 which had been confirmed to a specific protoporphyrinogen oxidase inhibitor was 10(-10) m (100 pm) i n this assay. These results indicate that this new assay system is ver y useful and sensitive for screening protoporphyrinogen oxidase inhibt ors.
