P. Klisic et D. Pajic, PROGRESS IN THE PREVENTIVE APPROACH TO DEVELOPMENTAL DYSPLASIA OF THEHIP, Journal of pediatric orthopedics. Part B, 2(2), 1993, pp. 108-111
Now that the true nature of developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) h
as been recognized, efficient triple prevention prognosis can be devel
oped, comprising directions for normal hip development and earliest po
ssible detection and safe treatment of initial displacements and hypop
lasias in newborns and infants. An average threefold decrease in this
condition was achieved in both prevalence and incidence of surgery. Ex
perience has shown the importance and benefit of interdisciplinary coo
peration: pediatric, orthopaedic, and obstetric, including teaching of
the medical staff and education of parents, as well as attainment of
healthcare funds.
