Laa. Janssens et Dl. Janssens, SUCCESSFUL LONG-TERM KETOCONAZOLE TREATMENT OF HYPERADRENOCORTICISM IN A DOG, Vlaams dierengeneeskundig tijdschrift, 62(6), 1993, pp. 186-188
An II years old poodle was treated successfully for Cushing's disease
with ketoconazole for a period of two years. Ketoconazole dosage was a
dapted to allow a urinary corticoid/creatinine ratio of ca. 10.10(-6).
Endogenous cortisol production was found to be suppressed excessively
12 months after the onset of treatment, but was restored by decreasin
g the dose of ketoconazole. The patient was euthanised twenty-three mo
nths after starting therapy because of kidney failure.
