K. Cymes et al., ESOPHAGEAL ABNORMALITIES DEVELOPED FROM T RACHEOBRONCHIAL REMNANTS - 2 REPORTS WITH DELAYED DIAGNOSIS IN ADULT, Annales de pathologie, 13(5), 1993, pp. 324-327
Congenital esophageal stenosis and bronchogenic cyst are secondary to
the same dysembryoplastic disorder in spite of different clinical sign
s. These lesions are revealed during infancy, unusually during adult a
ge. Dysphagia is the most common symptom. Our two cases highlight thes
e topics. Imaging methods displayed, in case 1, a distal stenosis, ass
ociated with a proximal dilatation, in case 2, a benign independent ma
ss, without connection with the respiratory tract. A chirurgical excis
ion was carried out in the two cases and the post operative course was
uncomplicated. Histologically the two resection specimens showed a re
spiratory mucosa trapping cartilaginous pieces.
