Abstract
A total of 20 patients who had suffered a stroke 1 to 3 months before initiation of the study underwent electroencephalographic (EEG) mappin g for up to 2 hours after administration of 4 mg of thyrotropin-releas ing hormone (TRH) or placebo. TRH administration modified the absolute values of cerebral electrical activity. The relative power intensity within the theta and alpha bands was significantly affected by TRH. Th e peak effect was observed 30 minutes after administration. Placebo ad ministration had no significant effect on EEG mapping.
