Liquid-vapor phase equilibria were studied in binary systems consistin
g of fluorobenzene with dimethylformamide and N-methylpyrrolidone and
the binary interaction parameters of the components of this system wer
e determined. Satisfactory accord was found between the experimental d
ata and calculated results obtained using the Wilson equation on the l
iquid-vapor phase equilibria in three-component systems consisting of
benzene, fluorobenzene, and a solvent. The suitability of the Wilson e
quation as a model for the liquid-vapor phase equilibrium for the comp
uter calculation of an extraction distillation column for the removal
of benzene from fluorobenzene using dimethylformamide as a selective s
olvent was shown.
