Iv. Tomov et Pm. Rentzepis, EFFECT OF THERMAL SELF-DEFOCUSING OF DEGENERATE 4-WAVE-MIXING IN ABSORBING MEDIA, Applied physics letters, 64(1), 1994, pp. 1-3
The distortion of a phase conjugate wave produced by degenerate four w
ave mixing as a consequence of thermal self-defocusing is reported. Th
e thermally induced refractive index changes cause modulation in the p
hase of the phase conjugate wave. The thermal self-defocusing effect m
ay impose a limiting factor in high repetition rate nonlinear devices.
