Abstract
The title compound [Nd(L)(NO3)3].2CH3CN was formed by reaction of neod ymium nitrate with N,N'-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)tetraglycollic diamide (L) . The complex crystallizes in the monoclinic system space group Cc wit h Z = 4, a = 21.305(6), b = 11.470(4), c = 14.436(3) angstrom, beta = 97.41(2)-degrees, V = 3498(2) angstrom3. The pentadentate organic liga nd wraps around the neodymium ion which is also bonded to three bident ate nitrate groups, achieving uncommon undecacoordination with the fol lowing mean bond lengths: Nd-O(etheric), 2.703; Nd-O(carbonyl), 2.518; Nd-O(nitrate), 2.546 angstrom.
