Ks. Gill et al., EFFECT OF INTERACTION OF FLOODING AND ALKALINITY AT VARIOUS GROWTH-STAGES ON GRAIN-YIELD OF WHEAT (TRITICUM-AESTIVUM), Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 63(12), 1993, pp. 795-802
An experiment was conducted with 5 promising varieties of wheat (triti
cum aestivum L. emend. Fiori & Paol.) at pH 8.0-8.5 and 9.4-9.6 under
4, 8 and 12 days of flooding at crown-root initiation, flowering and g
rain-filling stages. Crown-root initiation was more sensitive to flood
ing stress. For grain yield, flowering stage was more adversely affect
ed than other stages. Varieties 'CSW 538-2' and 'E 14-3' were more tol
erant to flooding under alkaline condition at various stages compared
with 'HD 2009' and 'KhM 5C-E 2'.'Kharchia 65' though tolerant to alkal
inity was less tolerant under flooding + alkalinity.
