Abstract
The performance of a new diversity receiver in a mobile radio communic ation system is analysed. The proposed scheme, based on the classical MLSE Viterbi algorithm, uses a new distance combination technique for GMSK signal demodulation. Comparisons with the classical Viterbi algor ithm show that the bit error rate can be significantly decreased, with a slight increase in the receiver complexity.
