Abstract
The impact parameter dependence of the straggling in electronic energy loss of fast protons in collisions with many-electron atoms is calcul ated within the semiclassical approximation and the independent electr on model with Hartree-Slater potential. The results for p+Ar collision s are in very good agreement with recent experimental data by Auth and Winter [Phys. Lett. A 176 (1993) 109].
