The method of ESR tomography with a modulated gradient of a nonuniform
magnetic field was used to obtain the spatial distribution of RO2 rad
icals in isotactic polypropylene exposed to gamma irradiation in air,
and the parameter a = (k(ef)/D(O2))0.5 was determined. The possibility
of predicting the change in the mechanical properties of polymers dur
ing radiation-induced oxidation is discussed.
