The postradiation oxidation of amorphous-crystalline polypropylene, ga
mma-irradiated at room temperature in the presence of oxygen, has been
studied by ESR tomography. A method of analysis of the depth of destr
uction of the sample is proposed. The system of differential equations
describing the process has been solved numerically, and the solutions
obtained have been analyzed. The shape of the reaction front and the
rate constant of the reaction R + O2 --> RO2 have been determined, The
physiological meaning of the constant k1 is discussed.
