SIMILARITIES AN DIFFERENCES IN LEISURE-TI ME ACTIVITIES OF EAST-BERLIN AND WEST-BERLIN PUPILS

On the basis of the socio-ecological approach formulated by BRONFENBRE NNER, the authors analyze and compare the leisure time activities of y oung people from East and West Berlin. Besides the usual more/less eva luations, the comparison focusses above all on the question whether bo th the preconditions and the activities as such show structural differ ences. To answer this question explorative factor analyses were carrie d out in order to be able to describe the content-related dimensionali zation of property spaces. The results presented in this study do not confirm either the hypothesis of convergence nor that of divergence, r ather, they point towards a co-existence of both hypotheses.
