Abstract
A new species of polynoid, Harmothoe commensalis, is described from th e mantle cavities of two subtidal clams, Gari solida and Semele solida , on the Chilean coast. About 50% of the clams investigated at Bahia L a Herradura, Coquimbo, contained single individuals of the new polynoi d. This is the third documented record of commensal association betwee n polynoid polychaetes and bivalve molluscs.
