Abstract
A Schiff base disulphide macrocyclic intermediate for the preparation of bis(aminoethanethiol) (BAT) ligands 1 rearranged to a tricyclic com pound, whose structure was demonstrated by X-ray determination. It was found to be in equilibrium with the precursor Schiff base in solution .
