DETERMINATION OF POLYCHLORINATED-BIPHENYL S, CHLORINATED PESTICIDES, CHLORINATED PHENOLS, POLYCYCLIC AROMATIC-HYDROCARBONS AND CHLOROPHENOXYALKANE ACIDS IN WATER AFTER CONCENTRATION ON SEPARON SGX C18

A procedure is described for the determination of PCBs, chlorinated in secticides, PAHs, chlorinated phenols and chlorophenoxy acids in potab le water. After in situ acetylation a 1000 ml water sample was passed through a disposable solid phase extraction cartridge, packed with 500 mg of C-18 bonded silica. The preconcentrated analytes were eluted wi th 2 ml of n-hexane and with 2 ml of 1 % ammonia in methanol. Determin ations were carried out by gas chromatography with an EC detector and HPLC with UV and fluorescence detectors. Recoveries were determinated at the nanogram to microgram/1 level and they generally ranged from 54 to 109 % with standard deviations of 3 - 16 %.
