Abstract
This paper presents a methodology for estimating worker risk occurring during remediation of radioactively contaminated sites. The methodolo gy was applied to estimate remediation worker risks associated with re mediation of 17 DOE sites. Fatal construction and off-site transportat ion risks associated with remediation of the sites were also evaluated . Cancer risks associated with exposure to radiation were found to be about nine times lower on average than construction- and transportatio n-related accident fatalities.
