Abstract
Rotenoid compounds provided from the phenylpropanoid pathway are large ly accumulated in the leaves of Tephrosia vogelii. Heterotrophic and p hotomixotrophic cell suspension cultures of this tropical plant have b een obtained. Both cell lines are able to produce rotenoids, but a spe cific production is observed in each cell culture. The photomixotrophi c cell line accumulated rotenone and deguelin in Tephrosia leaves and the heterotrophic cell line produced essentially deguelin and tephrosi n.
