GENETIC-PHYSIOLOGICAL INVESTIGATION OF PE A MUTANTS

Six new mutants were induced by treatment of pea seeds of Torsdag vari ety with chemical mutagens EMS, EI and gamma-irradiation. Four mutants had compact stems which were shortened and thickened in different deg ree. One mutant had no wax coating on leaves and the other had narrow leaflets. All mutants were recessive monogenic mutations with the plei otropic effect. The mutants and heterozygotes for the mutant genes dem onstrated different reaction to exogenous gibberellin. In some heteroz ygotes the heterotic effect was only displayed in the variant with gib berellin. The latter had no influence on segregations of the F-2 popul ation.
