H. Schellekens et al., VACUUM INTERRUPTER DESIGN BASED ON ARC MAGNETIC-FIELD INTERACTION FORHORSESHOE ELECTRODE, IEEE transactions on plasma science, 21(5), 1993, pp. 469-473
Computational methods for evaluating the complex magnetic field struct
ure in axial magnetic field type vacuum interrupters based on horsesho
e electrode geometry are demonstrated. Arcing behavior can only be und
erstood by incorporating a concept of an arcing model. An essentially
low current arcing model is capable of predicting the high current arc
ing behavior; by using this method the contact structure is optimized.
