A. Krejci et al., MULTICHANNEL SOFT-X-RAY DIAGNOSTICS OF HOT PLASMA EVOLUTION IN NITROGEN-PUFF Z-PINCH, IEEE transactions on plasma science, 21(5), 1993, pp. 584-587
Soft X-ray emission from nitrogen plasma of a small gas-puff Z-pinch h
as been studied. Multilayer mirror polychromator with time-resolved re
gistration by PIN diodes was installed and its relatively narrow spect
ral windows were aligned to the important parts of nitrogen spectrum b
etween 390 and 710 eV. The electron temperature evolution (T(e) almost
-equal-to 400 eV in hot spots) was measured from a slope of recombinat
ion continuum of He-like nitrogen. The T(e) of bulk plasma (almost-equ
al-to 100 eV) is compared with T(e) calculated from yields of K-shell
lines. Moreover, pinhole cameras were used for better understanding th
e radiation phase of the pinch. Time sequences of peaks in X-ray signa
ls corresponding to a number of bright spots on photographs, are prese
nted.
