The kinetics of nucleation in chain branching processes of silane and
dichlorosilane oxidation was investigated at low pressures and at room
temperature. For the first time, two regimes of nucleation were obser
ved, corresponding to mixture compositions inside self-ignition and fl
ammability limits, respectively. The effect of an electrostatic field
on the nucleation kinetics during the chain oxidation of dichlorosilan
e was revealed. Also for the first time, the conductivity of reacting
mixtures of silane and dichlorosilane with oxygen was observed during
the isothermal chain branching explosion, which indicated the signific
ance of charged species in these processes.
