The kinetics of the dehydrogenation of n-butane and its mixtures with
propane over potassium-platinum catalysts and those modified by indium
was investigated. The addition of indium resulted in an increase in t
he rate and selectivity of dehydrogenation. The stepwise scheme was su
ggested to take into account the parallel and consecutive formation of
butadiene on two types of centers. A simple, mutual influence of comp
onents was found to occur in the case of dehydrogenation of propane-bu
tane mixtures. The dehydrogenation rates of i- and n-butanes were comp
ared.
