An x-ray study of a single crystal of the composition NBu4[MnCr(C2O4)3
] reveals a layered structure with an ordered distribution of Mn2+ and
Cr3+ ions. The ferromagentic system which arises here is a quasi-2D s
ystem in terms of the nature of its exchange interactions. According t
o data on the orientation dependence of the magnetization in an extern
al field, the magnetic moments of Mn2+ and Cr3+ are directed along the
c axis of the crystal.
